A message from Finance and Business Services Senior AVP Marna Genes:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Doug Ward as Director-Financial Planning & Analysis effective Monday, September 16th. Doug has an extensive financial management and accounting background that includes more than six years with the University of California in roles that encompassed operations management, fiscal management and capital budgeting. In his last role with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services he served as the Financial Management Officer and ended his tenure serving as the Executive Officer for a regional office that provided services to the states of Arizona, Nevada and Utah. During his tenure in Federal service Doug streamlined financial operations for the region and received training in the model for improvement through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Doug is a CSU alumnus from Long Beach and earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin.
Doug’s title is new, replacing the former “Director of Budget Planning & Financial Management” title. The position responsibilities are essentially the same, but the new title appropriately reflects the growing emphasis on financial planning, modeling and analysis under our new three-year budget planning model, and with the centralization of operating fund compensation budgets. Doug oversees the office of Budget & Financial Management, which includes Roxanna Moradi, Claudia Gasca and Mike Vizzusi.
I can’t thank Susan Jaynes enough for serving as the Director of Budget Planning & Financial Management for the last two years. Susan recently returned to her former role, Manager-Capital Financial Planning & Analysis, and has shifted to a part-time schedule.
Please join me in welcoming Doug and thanking Susan.
