Bilingual Speaker Series: Bilingual Education in Spain and the PETaL EMJMD Master Program

The Lurie College of Education Bilingual Authorization Program, Bilingüismo y Justicia, invites you to attend our upcoming speaker series event on Wed., Jan. 29, from 4-5pm in Sweeney Hall 332.  The event will feature Dr. Mª Elena Gómez Parra and Dr. Cristina A. Huertas Abril from the University of Córdoba, Spain, who will discuss bilingual education in Spain and the PETaL EMJMD Master Program.

Mª Elena Gómez Parra has a degree in English Philology from the University of Granada and a PhD in English Philology from the University of Córdoba. She has a Master in Distance Education from UNED. She is currently an interdisciplinary researcher who works mainly in the areas of Intercultural Education, Bilingual Education and English as a Foreign Language. She is a Full Professor at the University of Córdoba, attached to the Faculty of Education of the same university. Her key research areas include: interculture, bilingual education, early acquisition of a second language.

Dr. Cristina A. Huertas Abril belongs to the Department of English and German Philology of the University of Córdoba. She is an interdisciplinary researcher who works mainly in the fields of bilingual education, computer-assisted language teaching, and teaching English as a foreign language. She teaches her undergraduate teaching at the University of Córdoba (UCO), and a Master’s degree at the University of Córdoba (UCO), the University of Cádiz (UCA) and the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP). Participates in various national and international research and teaching innovation projects. She belongs to the PAI-HUM 1006 Research Group “Research in Bilingual and Intercultural Education”,
