Located at Foothill College, the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) is offering a 10-month program called MERIT (Making Education Relevant through Innovative Teaching). They are specifically looking for pre-service and in-service teachers with 5 or less years of experience to participate in the program. By completing the program, you will receive 12 Foothill College quarter units as well as a California Certificate of Achievement as an Education Technology Specialist.
The focus of the program is on best practices of using technology in the classroom to create a more effective and engaging teaching environment. Participants will engage in a 2-week, summer intensive, virtual program where they will explore new Ed-tech and create an e-portfolio. During the 2021-2022 school year, participants will engage in 4 follow-up Saturday sessions where they will re-engage with the community to reflect on their teaching during the year and continually grow their portfolio of tools to use in their classes.
The program is competitive, so they encourage you to apply early (by February 28th). The general application is due by March 21, 2021.
If you have any questions, please send an email to Justin Sewell, Director of Programs and Partnerships at KCI (jsewell@krauseinnovationcenter.org) or Cate Tolnai, Director of MERIT 2021 (catetolnai@gmail.com)
