Learn from Lurie College of Education Alumni!

At the SJSU Lurie College of Education, we prepare transformative educators, counselors, therapists, school and community leaders.  Learn from Derica, Andrea, Gabrielle, and Willy – four of our alumni from our Child and Adolescent Development Department – as they share their stories and insights.

  • Derica Malaca graduated from SJSU in the class of 2018 with a BA in Child and Adolescent Development with a Community Focus and a minor in Health Professions.  Derica is currently an Administrative Assistant in the Gateway Child Development Center at the YMCA of San Francisco as well as a Financial Educator with World System Builder.
  • Andrea Marie Madrinan graduated from SJSU in the class of 2015 with a BA in Child and Adolescent Development and later earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco.  Andrea is currently a High School Counselor in the Fremont Unified School District.
  • Gabrielle Jeanpierre graduated from SJSU in the class of 2016 with a BA in Child and Adolescent Development.  Gabrielle is currently a Career Development Program Specialist with the Goodwill of Silicon Valley.
  • Willy Kwong graduated from SJSU in the class of 2013 with a BA in Child Development and again in the class of 2015 with a Master’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Development.  Willy is currently a full-time faculty member at Mission College.
