Dear ChAD students,
We realize you are receiving a lot of messages right now, and we appreciate your patience as we strategize on how best to support our students. For those of you engaging in course-related fieldwork this semester (i.e., service learning, practicum, and/or observations), please note the following:
- Students will NOT be accountable for missed hours or assignments as a result of COVID concerns or site closures.
- The ChAD department is working with university authorities to ensure that missed hours will NOT impact your ability to graduate on time.
- The ChAD department is working with accrediting authorities (i.e., CTC) to ensure that students will NOT be accountable for all of the pre-professional hours needed to pursue careers in education.
- As we gain clarity on when/whether sites will reopen after the spring break, your instructors will send information about alternative activities that will take the place of your fieldwork.
Finally, I encourage you to please reach out to me (the ChAD department chair) or your course instructors with any questions that you might have. We are all working diligently to ensure your success this semester, but we realize that messaging may not be entirely consistent during these ever-changing times. For that reason, we expect that your instructors will be your most reliable first point of contact.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Emily Slusser, PhD
