Lurie College is excited to welcome its new Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator, Saul Ruiz, to the community!
Saul was born and raised in Morgan Hill, CA. He started his collegiate studies at De Anza college, where he received his AA in Liberal Arts. He then followed in his sisters footsteps and transferred to UC Davis, where he majored in Sociology with a minor in Chicano Studies. Post-college graduation, Saul returned to the Bay Area to work at his old high school as the Cal-SOAP Advisor. His main focus was to build a bridge between high school students and college. It was during this time that he fell in love with the idea of mentoring students and being there to support them through the intense and nerve wracking college application process. Saul then moved to San Luis Obispo, where he worked at both Allan Hancock College as well as Cuesta College. He recently completed his Master’s degree from Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo in Higher Education and Student Affairs. He is very excited to be back home in the Bay to join the Lurie College of Education as the new Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator, and be able to give back to his community. In his free time, he loves to travel, try new coffee shops, and explore nature.
