Protect Yourself from Phishing Schemes

Please do not reply to any requests asking for your email password or other credentials. These types of emails are referred to as phishing — attempts to collect your authentication credentials and take advantage of your accounts for illegal purposes. Email phishing messages are sent regularly to many SJSU students, faculty and staff.

The CMS Help Desk will often ask for your User ID, but will never ask for your password. Any message that asks for your MySJSU password is a hoax.

To protect yourself:

  • If you have replied to any of these emails with your email password, please log back into your email account and change your password as soon as possible to prevent your email address from being used to compromise other peoples’ accounts
  • If you have replied to any of these emails with your MySJSU password, please log back into your MySJSU account and change your password as soon as possible
  • To ensure that SJSU messages are delivered to your inbox (not your SPAM or Bulk folders), please add @sjsu.edu to your filter options
  • Contact your email provider for detailed instructions on how to set your mail filters
  • Please check your SPAM and Bulk folders frequently for messages from SJSU

Financial Transaction Services Go-Live on August 9

Finance & Administrative Technology retired the Finance Web Component on Sunday, August 8 in order to migrate to the new Financial Transaction Services (FTS). FTS go-live was Monday, August 9. If you have any questions, contact the CMS Help Desk at 408-924-1530 or cmshelp@sjsu.edu.

Finance & Reporting and PASS Open Labs

Open labs for Finance, PASS, and reporting assistance have been scheduled. Open labs are informal sessions where qualified trainers are available to assist department users with the Finance System, including Cognos, PeopleSoft, and the Finance Web Component. Come to open lab for help on a number of topics, including:

  • Running and understanding Cognos reports
  • Entering web requisitions/travel reimbursements
  • Navigating the PASS website
  • Recording receipts and inspections
  • Reviewing PO/requisition information in PeopleSoft

These messages should be ignored and deleted from your inbox. If you accidentally respond to an email message like this, please login to MySJSU and change your password immediately to prevent unauthorized access to your account. Contact the CMS Help Desk at 408-924-1530 if you have any questions.
