As I continue to meet with members of our campus community—both in professional settings but also as casual, informal opportunities present themselves—I wanted to share with you my growing excitement about serving as SJSU interim president. This initial period on campus has only reinforced why I was so humbled and enthusiastic when CSU Chancellor Castro selected me for the role.

Post-commencement celebration, reflections, and a fond farewell
As we continue to bask in last week’s joyous in-person Commencement ceremonies and prepare for a well-deserved holiday break, I find myself reflecting on all that has taken place during my tenure as SJSU president. Perhaps it is that nostalgia that we experience when one special chapter in our life comes to an end.

Watching so many of SJSU’s recent and current graduates walking the stage this week and contemplating all that has happened during their years on our campus has been inspiring. Though their stories are all their own, they intersect with my own SJSU journey, one I have reflected on while seeing the joy on the faces of graduates crossing the stage.
