Dear Advisors,
On Tuesday, students’ registration appointments were posted in their MySJSU accounts. Just FYI, attached are the registration time slots that were posted. Also attached is a MySJSU message that is going out today to undergraduate students about the important registration dates. (Remember- MySJSU and the spring 18 registration process is closed from 5pm on 11/16 to the morning of 11/20.)

As you meet with and communicate with students, some things to remind them about are:

•To register right at their registration time slot (or as soon as possible if they are in class/at work). To definitely register before 11/16.
•If they have financial concerns, they need to go talk to the Bursar’s office about fee deferral. They should not postpone registration because this could ultimately cost them a lot more in late fees or extended semesters of tuition if they don’t get in needed classes.
•Right now is the time to check for holds on their account and to address them.
•Right now is the time to make sure they have looked at MyRoadmap and MyProgress and know the full set of classes they need to take in spring. http://www.sjsu.edu/mygps/
•They can use MyScheduler to set up their schedule and “shopping cart” before their registration appointment and then just submit it when their time slot comes up. (They don’t want to do it too far in advance in case sections fill up.) http://www.sjsu.edu/mygps/
•They can only wait list up to 5 units. If they need to wait list additional units, they need to contact their department chair. (Also, remember our goals is to get them in the class, not simply on the wait list. If you see long wait lists for a class, please talk to the department chair.) Remind them that the wait list goes away after the last day of regular registration (Jan 21st).
