Wang, Jane (SA System & Student Success Program) is Stepping Beyond

“I’d like to recognize Jane Wang as a Spartan stepping beyond. Our IT support was not available, and I needed help a number of times in the office. Jane, whose job function is not IT support, stepped up to help me with the software applications, replacing my keyboard, and giving me other computer tips. She generously shared her time, knowledge and skills in helping me to get my computer working properly so that I can complete my tasks in good time. I appreciate and thank her very much for all her help! She is the embodiment of the SPARTAN SPIRIT!”

Carrera, Maggie (University Personnel) is Stepping Beyond

“Maggie Carrera was extremely helpful with the transition of the Tuition Fee Waiver Program to my area. She conducted multiple training sessions, shared all related documents, and assisted with the presentation to the campus. This is a testament to her character as she could have conducted only one session. As such, myself and the new Fee Waiver Coordinator, Michele Delfino, have a better understanding of the program and will probably ask fewer questions in the future. She has set up the program for continued success and we greatly appreciate her time and training. ”

Nguyen, Ngoc and Orozco, Cathy (Parking Services) are Stepping Beyond

“Two alumni stopped me at a recent event to share how impressed they were by the service of two Parking Services team members in helping them with a parking issue. Cathy Orozco talked with them for about an hour to troubleshoot and then eventually connected them with Ngoc Nguyen’s voicemail. Despite being at an offsite meeting, Ngoc called them before the end of the day and helped them resolve the issue.”

Strapp, Matthew (Sports Information) is Stepping Beyond

“Matt stepped up in Media Relations by taking on additional sports to cover with the departure of a co-worker and promoted the NCAA Tournament women’s soccer team that won the Mountain West regular-season and tournament championships. He then covered the men’s soccer team that made the WAC championship game and assisted with coverage of the football team. He continues to put in countless hours and provides support to all 22 sports at San José State.”
