History Highlight – 15 Years as the Department of Nutrition, Food Science, and Packaging

Our department has been known by a number of names over the years. In 1982, we became the Department of Nutrition and Food Science after being the Department of Nutrition, Foods, and Dietetics since 1979. But with the return of the Packaging Program to the Department in 2006 (it had moved to the College of Engineering in 2001), a more inclusive name was needed.  In 2007, we became what you know today as the Department of Nutrition, Food Science, and Packaging.

For more information about our Packaging Program, visit BS in Packaging or Minors.
