The David Beaver Young Scholar Award is awarded to scholars that demonstrate strong dedication to the adapted physical activity profession through service in Adapted Physical Education and Activity (APE/APA) and scholarly efforts to disseminate their work to the public via publications, presentations, or other professionally established means.

Dr. Lee received her Ph.D. in APE/APA at Ohio State University in 2013. She has steadily built her research agenda since that time that focuses on enhancing motor and social skills for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Lee joined the Department of Kinesiology in 2017.

As a young scholar, Dr. Lee has over 20 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. In addition to her publications, Dr. Lee has over 40 national and international presentations and shows continued service to the profession serving on Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Adapted Physical Education awards selection committee and NCPEID’s member-at-large. It is clear that Dr. Lee is intellectually driven and a highly dedicated young professional.
