The Department of Kinesiology Convocation will be held the evening before Commencement, on Friday May 22, from 4:00-6:00 PM on the South Tower Lawn. Everyone is warmly invited, especially those who graduated in December 2014 and those who will be graduating in May and August 2015 so that we can acknowledge you for your hard work. This is for masters and bachelors degree students, their families, friends, and faculty and staff. Appetizers will be served from 4 PM and the ceremony will start at 4:30 PM.
Tickets will go on sale from Wednesday, March 18 until the cut-off date of Friday May 1 in YUH 105. Everyone who attends (except those under 3 years of age), including those graduating, will need to buy a ticket! Tickets cost $15 each and there is no limit on how many you may purchase. Please note: if you wish to buy a sash/stole (see below) the cut off date is earlier (April 15), so the company can make them.
Payment may ONLY be by check (no cash, no credit/debit cards) and checks should be made out to “Department of Kinesiology” Money taken in is used exclusively to fund the event: food, chair rental, A/V, flowers, program printing, etc. Sash and event costs may be paid for in the same check.
At the time of ticket purchase, you will be asked to complete a form stating your name as you wish it to appear in the program, and your emphasis area.
You may also opt to buy an “electric blue” Kinesiology sash/stole, similar to that pictured in the attachments to this email. Cost is $26 and you will need to tell us whether you want yours to state 2014 or 2015. Cut off date for sash orders is April 15 (tax day!!) (Athletic Training students may be organizing buying their own sashes that state “Athletic Training” instead of “Kinesiology.” These will likely cost extra because of an additional set up charge. Please contact Katie Elston if you would like to order an AT sash. Kinesiology sashes will be picked up by those who ordered them in mid May, from YUH 105.
If you have questions, please ask those selling tickets in YUH 105. Last year, we had approximately 1350 at the event, making it about the largest such event on campus. Hope to see you there!
And feel free to forward this to any 2014 grads you know who may wish to attend, thanks.
