One of my overarching goals since becoming San Jose State’s president in 2016 has been to help establish SJSU as one of the nation’s premier public urban higher education institutions, a university dedicated to its core mission of creating opportunity for all students, regardless of their origins or socio-economic status. This commitment to excellence, aspiration and opportunity is reflected in Goal 2 of our newly-unveiled strategic plan, Transformation 2030, which is articulated as “Excel and Lead.”

Starting tomorrow, San Jose State will conduct spring commencement ceremonies at both our Event Center and Avaya Stadium. This is always a special time on the academic calendar, a time when our new graduates gather to celebrate their achievements with friends and family, proudly walk across the stage and reflect on their years at SJSU and the promises ahead of them.
ISB groundbreaking jumpstarts transformative era in SJSU science and research
On a gorgeous, sunny morning last Thursday, San Jose State broke ground on its Interdisciplinary Science Building (ISB), a state-of-the-art facility that is sure to transform our campus when occupancy begins in just a few years.
