OA of the Month Nominations Due by February 20th

This is a remind that if you are wanting to nominate someone for OA of the month, please fill out the nomination from. Please submit a separate from for each nominee.

OA of the month nominations are due by the 20th of each month.  

As a reminder OA nominations are to recognize our amazing OA staff who provide extraordinary service to the Res Life Community exceeding the expectations of the OA position (i.e. providing assistant to a resident or guest above the exception, going out of their way to assist their co-workers and the FDT, etc.) Anyone (pro staff, FDT, faculty-in-Residence & students) may nominate an OA member for this recognition. Nominees must have completed one month employment at San Jose State University. Award recipients will be announced at the beginning of each month the prior moth and will be displayed in our OA Google Website. Past recipients can receive this award once per semester. There is no limit on the number of individuals you may nominate. Please submit a separate from for each nominee.

New Website Links and Resources

We have updated the OA website with new resources and information on the “More Information Tab”. Please make sure to check this tab frequently to stay up to date with things happening on campus!
In addition, we have added the OA of the Month Nomination form to the homepage of the website. Please send in your nominations so we can elect an OA of the month!

Payroll Reminders now on Google Calendar

We are adding payroll reminders for the remainder of the academic year to everyone’s calendar.  This will be a reminder on the day before payroll is due for you to validate and make any changes to your hours.

Again, once payroll is closed, you will be unable to update your hours in SJSU@work.

March Schedule Delayed

At this time, the FDT is still working on the schedule for March for all communities.  As part of this, we are auditing all students overnight availability and we will be giving them some extra time to update it so they meet the minimum 3 nights availability.

Due to this, we will be publishing the schedule a little later than anticipated.  We hope to have the schedule for March published February 19, 2020.

 

 

OA Q&A Sessions

As requested at training, we are going to start to offer some OA Q & A Sessions.  These sessions would be hours as stated below where OA’s can come in and talk to the FDT about availability, time off request, scheduling, OA expectations, accountability or any other issues/concerns you are having.
We are currently offering a few dates and times that would hopefully work out for majority of our students:
Friday, February 28, 2020-10:00 am-11:30 am in CVB RAC
Wednesday, March 11, 2020-3:30 om-5:00 pm in CVB RAC
Monday, March 23, 2020-2:00 pm-3:30 pm in CVB RAC
We will be adding these to your calendar if you are able to attend that would be great!
Please come and join us to chat with anyone on the desk team, grab a snack and get to know your fellow OA’s.
