KIN Community Mourns the Passing of Angel Gutierrez

KIN Community,

It is with deep sadness that we relay a very unfortunate event occurred this past weekend. One of our fellow Kinesiology students, Angel Almarez Gutierrez, was in a tragic car accident in which he passed away.

Angel was an incoming 3rd year in the rehabilitation sciences emphasis. He was an aspiring physical therapist who was consistently involved in the Kinesiology department. Angel was a member of the Kinesiology Ambassadors Club and was the Public Relations Officer for the Pre-Physical Therapy Club.

Angel always had a smile on his face and his laugh lit up the room. He was one of the most hardworking, motivated, and positive-minded individuals you will ever meet.

Both the Pre-Physical Therapy Club and the Kinesiology Ambassadors Club are in the works to create an event in his memory.  There is also a gofundme that is supporting Angel’s family to cover his funeral expenses, which I will link below.

Lastly, we wanted to make everyone aware of the resources we have on campus to help cope in these types of situations. Both the Student Wellness Center, as well as Counseling and Psychological Services, have resources that are available to all students here at SJSU.

Angel touched the lives of many and will always be remembered as a great person.

Rest In Peace Angel Almarez Gutierrez.
