Starting tomorrow, San Jose State will conduct spring commencement ceremonies at both our Event Center and Avaya Stadium. This is always a special time on the academic calendar, a time when our new graduates gather to celebrate their achievements with friends and family, proudly walk across the stage and reflect on their years at SJSU and the promises ahead of them.

Environment, sustainability issues to frame Earth Day activities at SJSU
Earth Day 2019—and the various activities we have planned at SJSU this month to celebrate and acknowledge this important day—reminds me, as it should all of us, that sustainability remains one of the big issues of our time. San Jose State continues to be an innovative leader in this area, particularly in our buildings and facilities, but also in our academic programs and co-curricular initiatives led by our Division of Student Affairs.
SJSU and its Mineta Transportation Institute are “transporting” our students to new career opportunities
Because it is such a critical part of our overall educational mission, I have written a lot lately about how San Jose State prepares its students for the workforce and, specifically, the global economy. Continuing that theme, I would like to focus this time on transportation, both the multitude of opportunities in this field but also the exciting ways in which San Jose State and its Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) are working to develop a qualified, well-trained transportation workforce.
