Presentation Title: Where the Green Grass Grows
Presenter(s): Steven Sheppard, School of Information
Abstract: I did a class project for Seminar in Library Management: Sustainability. My project consisted of a discussion about green belts and green space in cities and how libraries can be a catalyst for their propagation. The library can be used as a central point in planning out areas for green space planting, bringing the public into helping, and using the library and the grounds as a green building with either a bio-roof or a green space surrounding the library. For patrons, the library could hold a seed bank and an environmental library of things to encourage patrons to turn their yards into a green neighborhood or mini preserve.
