by | Apr 19, 2023 | Research and Innovation

San José State University’s inaugural
Research Week connects the dots between the university’s dynamic public impact research and real-world, real-time applications.

From April 24–28, SJSU will showcase innovative research initiatives from students and faculty across colleges, centers and institutes. SJSU’s entrepreneurial incubator SpartUp will also demonstrate startups, prototypes and support resources, taking research and inventions from concept to market.

“Research Week is the fruit of SJSU’s fast-growing, interdisciplinary research enterprise,” says Mohamed Abousalem, vice president for research and innovation at SJSU. “We are becoming the public research powerhouse of Silicon Valley, growing over 53% over the past four years alone, providing public impact solutions utilized by private and public ventures across the region and beyond. This fun week of discovery and dialogue offers a glimpse into the world of vibrant research and innovation taking place in the heart of Silicon Valley, by Silicon Valley’s public university.”

Ranked first in the nation in research among all non-PhD-granting universities, SJSU offers hands-on learning for one of the most diverse student bodies in the nation. For many universities, research opportunities are generally offered to graduates, post-doctoral and PhD students. Along with graduate students, SJSU provides undergraduates with hands-on research experience, ensuring advanced experience and skills as early as their first year on campus.

Spanning eight events, Research Week will showcase 200+ student and faculty academic investigators, celebrated authors and ground-breaking researchers. The showcase event is the Celebration of Research on April 27.
