Wed Aug 26: The Kaggle competitions

Welcome back to another year at SJSU!

As has become our custom, the Math/Stats Colloquium is excited to begin the semester with a colloquium related to this semester’s Math 203 (CAMCOS) class, namely: “The Kaggle competitions: An introduction to CAMCOS Fall 2015”.  This semester’s projects will be selected from www.kaggle.com, a platform hosting many data science competitions.  The speaker, our own Guangliang Chen, will give a basic introduction to the Kaggle competitions as well as to the necessary background for working on the projects.  No prior knowledge will be assumed and everyone, including both CAMCOS applicants and those who want to learn more about the course, is welcome.

Background: No particular background is necessary.
