Welcome to the Fall 2025 semester! We are always looking forward to the start of the semester because of all of the events, new faces, and the opportunity to grow our Global Spartan community. In preparation for the start of the Fall 2025 semester we’ve had many events such as Campus Tours (led by our amazing Global Leaders) and Global Spartan Meet-Ups. Since the semester has started we’ve also had International Welcome and Grad Panel Networking event, International Welcome, On-Campus Job Search Strategies collaboration event with Career Center, and Kick-off to our weekly Global Connections! We will have many more events during the semester so keep a lookout on our Instagram page (@sjsuinternational) and our events webpage for all of our upcoming events!!
International Grad Panel & Networking
For this event we had around 100 attendees! They were able to listen to a group of international graduate students share about their experiences here at SJSU and share any work experience they may have had or experiences searching for a job. Our panelists this year were Suhaa Ahmed an Urban Planning major from India, Ambarish Govindarajulu Kaliamurthi a Computer Engineering major from India, Suhaas Teja Vijjagiri a Computer Engineering major from India, and Ashish Bhusal a Computer Engineering major from Nepal. After the panel, students were able to mingle, network!
On-Campus Job Search Strategies
This semester we collaborated with the Career Center for the first On-Campus Job Search Strategies event. For this event we had 94 students who were able to come out to the event. Students were able to learn all the ways on how to find an on-campus jobs, learn how to tailor your resume to stand out, and also hear from current international students about their experiences! If you missed the event, Career Center Counselor Thuy Nguyen will be stopping by ISSS on certain Fridays throughout the semester and you can have your resume and LinkedIn profile reviewed! International Welcome
At the start of the semesters, we host an International Welcome event to welcome in new and returning international students. This semester’s theme was Friend Island! About 140 students were able to join us in playing games, connect with other students, learn about other cultures and also meet the SJSU President Cynthia Teniente-Matson!
Students had fun playing Human Bingo, Marshmallow Tower, Rochambeau Train and many more games! Special shout out to the committee leads: Nick Shien and Piero Miranda and also to our many volunteers who helped pull this off!
Global Connections: Kick Off
Global Connections is a weekly meetup where each week we focus on a different theme. Students can come to connect with people from around the world, explore cultural topics, and learn tips for improving your overall well being. It is open to all students. In Fall 2025 we’ll meet every Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (PT). Please refer to the schedule on our webpage for all the topics and locations!. Everyone is welcome! For our first Global Connections of the Fall 2025 semester we had a Kick Off event where we had a large turn out! We were able to have meaningful conversations, play games, and eat some snacks. Our next Global Connections will be focusing on Making Friends & Getting Involved on Sept 8th. Come hang out with us!
