School of Journalism and Mass Communications Alums and Students Win Awards

Recent School of Journalism and Mass Communications (JMC) graduates, Jennifer Gonzalez and Raphael Stroud, have both won coveted journalism awards for recent news broadcasts.

Jennifer and her team at NBC Bay Area won a Regional and National Edward R. Murrow Award for Social Media Coverage of the Wine Country fires. Raphael won a regional Emmy for producing the 5 p.m. news at KGET in Bakersfield, CA. Congratulations to Jennifer and Raphael.

In the advertising sequence, two students were presented with National ADDY awards. Student team, Arabela Espinoza and Talia Nakhjiri, received a Silver award for their “Make Mama Proud” campaign. “This is the first time our students have won a National ADDY Award,” says John Delacruz, JMC Associate Professor.
