The School of Journalism and Mass Communications invites you to attend two exciting presentations about Afghanistan.  You are encouraged to bring colleagues, as well as students.

November 27 at 6 p.m., SJSU President Mohammad Qayoumi will offer a visual presentation about the culture and history of Afghanistan.  This lecture will be held in an informal classroom setting, Dwight Bentel Hall 225. 

December 5 at 2:30 p.m., Fariba Nawa, author of the non-fiction book, Opium Nation, will participate in a panel discussion with visiting journalism professors from Afghanistan, exploring the question:  “Is there hope for Afghanistan?”    An Afghan-American journalist, Nawa has explored women’s lives, child brides and Afghanistan’s multi-billion dollar narcotics industry.  The discussion will take place in Engineering 189.
