AUTHOR! AUTHOR!: San Jose State student Christine Mahady won first place in the feature-length screenwriting category of this month’s California State University Media Arts Festival. Her screenplay, “The Domestic Slut,” is a romantic comedy about a working woman who tries to get her boyfriend to propose by altering her personality. The statewide competition is open to students at all CSU campuses.

Scott Sublett, an assistant creative-writing professor at San Jose State, says the award is a serious boost for the school’s screenwriting program. “We’re proud because clearly if our student wins first place, it indicates we’re doing the best job of teaching screenwriting in the CSU system,” he said.
