On October 15-18, Dr. Federico Varona and Dr. Luis Felipe Gómez participated in the VIII Communication of the Americas Conference in Lima, Perú, within the context of the XIV Encounter of Latin American Communication Schools (FELAFACS).

Led by Dr. Varona and sponsored by both FELAFACS and NCA, this conference seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration among communication academics from all regions of this continent.   This year, the engaging participation of dozens of undergraduate students from different schools in Latin America made the conference especially rewarding.

Three critical issues discussed this year were: a) training and practices to reduce the digital divide, b) how digital media changes the role of the communication instructor, and c) the social responsibility communicators in lieu of digital media.
