This book addresses an important issue for LatinX students, and for other students to help them understand the LatinX perspective. It would be easy to use in most social science classes as a starting point for discussing identity and ethnic diversity at SJSU.
I have not finished the book yet. I find it difficult to understand what the focus is as stories switch from something about the author to her travels learning to understand Latinx better. This book might work well for a class where there is regular discussion of it but I don’t think it will work well for the reading program and we have better choices.
