I liked this book, though I wasn’t expecting to. I enjoyed the descriptions of Somaliland, a country that I don’t know much about. The author was honest and spoke openly about the mistakes he had made. He did not shy away from describing the issues in Somali society. Overall, I don’t think this is the book for us. It’s not very well-rounded and focuses just on one person (the author), making it too similar to the book we chose last year. It also lacks literary value (it’s fine as non-fiction because it’s his own voice, but it’s not well written).
