’13 Nursing
“I feel like I’m living my life as a nurse in Dorothy’s footsteps. I get to follow her amazing career path, and it’s very empowering.”
The Dorothy J. Carson Memorial Scholarship provides support, annually, for two SJSU Valley Foundation School of Nursing students who excel academically and demonstrate financial need. A member of the Golden Key Honor Society and the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society at SJSU, Montgomery now works as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. The endowed scholarship was established by Red Carson to honor his wife, a U.S. Army veteran and registered nurse.
