Volunteers Needed for MoMath at the Bay Area Science Festival

Well it turns out that MoMath will be in SF in a few weeks! The thing that we’re bringing is a small traveling exhibition (mm2go.org) and it’s going to the Bay Area Science Festival on November 2. We are recruiting volunteers to help facilitate the exhibits and I thought you two might enjoy volunteering! I probably won’t be able to come that weekend unless a miracle happens, but you could at least have some fun with a coworker of mine.

The festival is at AT&T Park and it runs 11-4. We are looking for people to help out and have two available volunteers shifts: 10:30-2 and 1:30-5 (or both!) But we’re actually super flexible and you can pretty much make up your own shift. Part of our mission is to show kids that there are lots of people who are friendly and accessible who also love math so we’re looking for people who are enthusiastic and fun. Obviously I thought of my multicultural fourth graders.

Volunteers will be helping visitors use, understand, and enjoy the exhibits. There are tutorials for older versions of the six MM2GO exhibits at mathmidway.org/mm2go/training/. Volunteers will have on-site training as well and it will be a really fun day. If you are interested, you can email Emily at vanderpol@momath.org. Emily is the best person in the world. And tell any friends who would be interested as well!

But also, totally no pressure, but you should go to the Bay Area Science Festival anyway!
