KIN @ WSKW 2015 in Reno

KIN @ WSKW
This October KIN was well represented at the Western Society for Kinesiology & Wellness.  A team of faculty and students (Dr. Bethany Shifflett, Daniel Murphy, Dr. Farzaneh Ghiasvand, Marisa Cuevas) presented their work on the topic of Gender Bias in Sport Analytics.  In addition, Marisa’s poster presentation (Representations of Female Athletes) earned the outstanding student poster award.  The poster presentation by Dr. Gong Chen with colleagues Liu, Zhao, Zou, & Xie on reported violent crimes to Chinese university women and their self defense actions was awarded outstanding faculty poster presentation.  Dr. Robert Scmidlein gave two presentations (Common Core Standards & PE; Functional Fitness Training in High School PE Curriculum), Dr. David Daum teamed up with a CSU Chico colleague to present on the topic of Secondary Online PE, and KIN was awarded the ‘bootster’ award.  It’s a traveling award given to a campus with great faculty engagement at the conference.  We keep it for the year then bring it back next year to be passed on – or back to us?  Would be great to have even more faculty and student engagement at the conference next year!  One additional note is that Dr. Bethany Shifflett was elected to serve as President Elect for WSKW.
