January marks the halfway point for the current budget year (2013-14). Each year at this time, Administration & Finance performs a mid-year review of all division balances and provides an outlook to the President. The 2013-14 budget outlook is on track with the SJSU budget plan adopted in August.
The recently released Governor’s budget plan for 2014/15 confirms his original plan to provide CSU with $142 million. The budget picture looks better than it has in recent years. Follow the link below for a 2013-14 budget update and the preliminary 2014-15 SJSU budget plan.

The CSU Chancellor’s Office recently announced that the current CFS Data Warehouse version 10G will be upgraded to version 11G. The CFS Data Warehouse is the reporting tool used by campus departments to monitor financial activity affecting their State accounts.
The upgraded data warehouse will go-live Monday, January 21, but the good news is, the current data warehouse will continue to be available for you to use. Both data warehouses will be refreshed nightly through June 2014, so there is time to prepare yourself to switch over completely to the new version on July 1, 2014.
We will update the campus regarding reference resources as they become available and will be using our regularly scheduled Finance Open Labs for training throughout the coming months. We encourage users to explore the new data warehouse when it goes live.
For employees who track or manage department budgets, please note that the month of December 2013 is now closed in the CFS Finance System. This means that the General Ledger (GL) system will not accept any more entries with a December Journal Date. December transactions can still be entered into the GL system, but the Journal Date must be 1/1/2014 or later. Periods currently open are January 2014 through June 2014.
