Dr. Denise Dawkins is an assistant professor at The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San José State University. She teaches undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students and coordinates simulations. Her expertise is in the healthcare needs of marginalized groups and communities who have historically been oppressed, overlooked and discriminated against. Dr. Dawkins has been a registered nurse for almost 40 years and a healthcare simulationist, researcher, and educator for 20 years.

Kezban Yagci Sokat
Kezban Yagci Sokat is an assistant professor of business analytics at the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business and a research associate at the Mineta Transportation Institute. Her area of interest is using analytics in public health, humanitarian logistics and human trafficking. She has led several multi-disciplinary anti-trafficking initiatives and has served on multiple local anti-trafficking committees. She holds a doctoral degree in industrial engineering and management sciences from Northwestern University.

Sen Chiao
Sen Chiao is an emeritus professor in the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science in the College of Science. He earned a doctoral degree in atmospheric science from North Carolina State University and was a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard. He is the director of the NASA Minority University Research and Education Program Institutional Research Opportunity (MIRO) Center for Applied Atmospheric Research and Education. His research focuses on aerosol and its impacts on air quality, weather and regional climate, urban heat islands, wildfire impacts on air quality, and public health linkages to air quality, weather and climate. He also specializes in hurricanes.
