The College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE)’s 2023 Online Student Conference will be held during February 14-17, 2023. The conference seeks to connect students across the college and promote student work. All students currently enrolled in the two academic departments in CPGE (School of Information, and Department of Applied Data Science) are encouraged to submit presentations about their school projects or work experience to the conference.
The conference aims to provide an opportunity for CPGE students to share their school or professional work, help students communicate and connect with each other, and ultimately foster a stronger sense of community among students.
The conference will be held during Feb 14-17, 2023, consisting of both synchronous and asynchronous sessions.
- On Feb 14, 2023, a one-hour live opening session will be held to kick off the conference.
- All student presentation will be pre-recorded video presentations housed on the conference website. During the conference period (Feb 14-17, 2023), the conference website will be widely circulated for people to view the presentations and leave comments. Each presentation will have its own webpage, where the author bio, presentation title, abstract, and video recording link will be posted. The author(s) of the presentation will monitor their page on the conference website and interact with visitors through comments.
- On Feb 17, 2023, a one-hour live closing session will be held to conclude the conference.
Submit an Abstract by 11:59 pm PST, Nov 18, 2022
Students will first submit a 150-200 word abstract about their presentation. The presentation can be about anything academically or professionally related, such as a project you completed for a class, or an internship experience. The abstract should include 1) a description of the project/experience; 2) reflections on the project/experience (e.g. how it has helped with your academic or professional growth).
The abstract submissions will be carefully reviewed by the conference committee and the acceptance notification will be sent out by Dec 2, 2022.
Submit a Video Presentation by 11:59 pm PST, Jan 24, 2023
Once the abstract is accepted, the student will create a video recording of their presentation. For a single-authored presentation, the video should be about 5 minutes in length, and for a multi-authored presentation, the video can be about 10 minutes long. Detailed instructions on how to make the video recording and submit it will be sent to students once their abstract is accepted. Each student presenter will receive a digital conference certificate to recognize their participation in the conference.
