San Jose State University’s Spartan Superway Project was featured in the Podcar City and Advanced Transit July newsletter.

As part of the Sustainable Mobility System for Silicon Valley, Professor Burford Furman, more than 50 students and staff at the International Institute of Sustainable Transportation (INIST) are working to design a personal rapid transport system using renewable energy. The interdisciplinary team includes students from the mechanical and electrical engineering departments who are focused on creating a hanging podcar system that would reduce traffic congestion, decrease time spent commuting and use more sustainable fuel sources.

SJSU’s faculty and staff shared some of their ideas last fall at a Podcar City conference in Mountain View, where they were featured in ABC 7 News.
