Assistant Professor Andrea Bechert, of the Department of Television, Radio, Film and Theatre designed the set for the regional premiere of the play “Outsider Mullingar,” now performing at TheatreWorks in Mountain View. The Tony-nominated script is by John Patrick Shanley, who is most famous for the stage play “Doubt” and the screenplay “Moonstruck,” both of which have been adapted into movies.  “Outside Mullingar” is a romantic comedy set in the Irish countryside and Bechert’s sets denote dreary days in rural Ireland.

Bechert earned her B.S. in Theatre Design and Technology from Northern Arizona University and her MFA in Scenic Design and Costume Design from Ohio University.
