We want to hear from you!
Please use the form below to submit letters to the editor, your alumni updates, story ideas and faculty or alumni obituaries.

We are always looking for SJSU alumni, student and faculty writers. Freelance writers who wish to write for the magazine may send letters of interest and queries directly to the editor. Please review our guidelines and our archived issues before you send your query.

Guidelines
Washington Square is printed thrice a year: May, September and December. In general, we plan three issues in advance and accept queries on a rolling basis. Please propose your story ideas at least four months prior to any issue.

We follow AP style, with some exceptions found in the SJSU writing guidelines.

First Person is a chance for alumni, faculty members and current SJSU students to share personal essays of no more than 400 words on any topic. Creative nonfiction is preferred.

Please include your SJSU graduation year and major with all submissions.

  1. Thank you for providing both the beautifully printed addition of Washington Square and the option for many to enjoy the electronic edition. It has been over 40 years since I attended San Jose State, but I recognize regularly the influence to this day of my college life. The memories and the educational influences that faculty and fellow students have had on my career and life choices are immeasurable. I look forward to reading the Washington Square with each issue, as I still occasionally recognize names from the early 70′s when I was a student. Your staff does an outstanding job.

    Sincerely, Bruce W. Daily (68′-73′)
