Edward is a Senior Mechanical Engineering student at San Jose State University.

Eder Cervantes – Software Engineering Lead for Fall 2018

Eder is a Senior in Computer Engineering at San Jose State University with a passion for unifying physical hardware and software.

Adrian Lucas – Mechanical Engineering Lead for Fall 2018

Christian Lopez-Farnes – Financial Manager for Fall 2018

Christian is a Senior in Computer Engineering at San Jose State. He is passionate about Big Data, Machine Learning, and community involvement.

The third iteration of the Underwater rover will aim to improve upon the following:

  • Improving the Machine Learning models deployed with the rover. The current models have an approximate accuracy of >70%; additionally, the models are built on nearly deprecated technology. The team will redesign the Machine Learning models with new technology, the goal for this semester is to match the current accuracy and continue improving it through next year.

  • Redesign of the Rover’s hull with the purpose of allowing it to navigate shallow waters. This is an essential part of this year’s goal our community partner would like to more accurately determine endangered species spawning zones.

  • Improving the Rover’s mobility through turbulent waters by using more powerful motors. During the rainy season, the Guadalupe river stream can overpower the current rover, the team would like the rover to be usable year round.
