It’s going to require quite a bit of underground work. You may have seen the first dig site near South Ninth and East San Fernando streets. But by time all the upgrades are in place in 2011, SJSU will consume 45 percent less drinking water than in 1999. That’s huge!

Here’s how it will work: After 10 years of using recycled water for the main campus cooling tower and south campus athletic field irrigation, SJSU is making the infrastructure changes needed to accommodate campuswide use of recycled water for landscape irrigation.

SJSU’s Facilities Development and Operations department is leading this effort. Check out the signage around the dig site for more information, including super clear graphics explaining how the project will work.
