After 19 years of collecting toys for children of the extended campus community, the San Jose State University Police Department has received its first-ever major corporate contribution.

“The University Police Department at San Jose State has been bringing joy to hundreds of children for almost two decades. Comerica Bank is proud to be their first major corporate sponsor,” said Comerica Western Market CEO Mike Fulton. “The members of the department spend many hours of their personal time organizing the drive and delivering the toys. We want them to know how much their work is appreciated.”

Since 1992, UPD has collected toys and donations from across campus and worked with the Christmas Dinner Fund Inc. to provide food to brighten the holiday season for families in need. This program serves the extended university community, including SJSU students, faculty and staff as well as the children from Lowell Elementary School and the surrounding neighborhood. Last year, the UPD Holiday Toy Drive provided toys and food to 250 families (more than 1,200 children).
