eLearning for SJSU Employees

 

Earlier this year Human Resources announced the rollout of the Skillsoft Learning Library for all SJSU staff and faculty, giving us thousands of interesting and educational online eLearning courses, books, and videos. Skillsoft has recently been upgraded to Skillport 8.0 and we encourage you to log in and see what is avilailable.

Skillport has been completely redesigned but the content remains the same. Skillport 8.0 is tablet-friendly and has enhanced search capabilities. Books 24×7, a collection of over 20,000 titles of books, audio books and videos, have been integrated onto the Skillport site.

There are a wide variety of topics available from customer service, communication, and team building to highly technical professional and IT certification courses. See the Business CatalogDesktop Catalog, or IT Catalog for the lists of courses. Please check the Skillport library before purchasing training and development information. You may already have it at your fingertips!

The Skillport 8.0 User Guide and Getting Started with Skillport 8 are great resources to navigate through the site.

For more information about Skillport 8, available courseware and updates for all your e-Learning questions, visit the Central Station U eLearning Portal. Human Resources will have an Introduction to Skillport training session on Wednesday, September 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in Clark 547. Enroll via MySJSU/PeopleSoft using course code: TRCR61.

Skillport 8.0 can be accessed through eLearning on the HR website. Currently all SJSU staff, faculty, and student employees have access and can use their SJSUOne account to log in. The campus is working with the Chancellor’s Office to incorporate all auxiliary staff into Skillport in the very near future.

Skillsoft Online Learning System

 

In response to the numerous and varied training requests we receive, Human Resources is excited to announce a brand new online learning system for our employees!

All SJSU staff and faculty now have free access to the Skillsoft Learning Library. At your fingertips are thousands of engaging online eLearning courses, books, and videos.

There are three libraries: The Business Library helps employees develop skills across a wide range of “soft skill” subjects such as business writing, customer service, and effective listening. The Desktop Library provides learners with comprehensive courses related to Microsoft Office (Mac and PC), email, computing fundamentals, and Adobe products. The IT Library has a full catalog of information technology courses and IT certification prep exams.

Looking for the latest IT, business or leadership book? You also have access to Books24x7. Search the Books24x7 collection of over 20,000 titles and read the books on your computer, tablet or smartphone.

Step Beyond: Customer Service Training Coming Soon!

 

In the spirit of the Vision 2017 goal of Helping and Caring, and in response to campus-wide requests, HR is developing customer service training. Look for Step Beyond: SJSU Customer Service Training to be rolled out in the coming weeks. Step Beyond will cover the components of quality customer service and will give attendees an opportunity to step out of their own shoes and into those of the customer. The major theme of the training is going a “step beyond” to create a culture of helping and caring on campus.

HR will be offering Step Beyond: SJSU Customer Service Training as an open HR101 class throughout the year. We will also go to departments to facilitate trainings upon request. For more information, contact Julie Inouye Wong.
