  1. This book would be an excellent choice for the Fall 2016 CRP. Its combination of suspense, discussion of discrimination, history, outrage, forgiveness, empathy, and hope will bring up many themes that can connect to curriculum. There are a few parts of the book that some students won’t have patience for, but most of it will be a page turner. We could use themes in the book to showcase our Clearance Project. We could investigate the many ways that discrimination has played out throughout history. The end of the book leaves open the opportunity to explore ways to help incarcerated people – perhaps SJSU could have a university-wide project in this area.
    I strongly recommend this book.
