November 11th, 2013 by Huong

11/14/13 @ 7:00-9:00 PM - Come sleep out to be in solidarity with the 47 million Americans living in poverty and the 7,400 houseless people in Santa Clara County.  You will learn how 18,000 families in our community could be made homeless as a result of the federal Sequester Cuts.  You will also learn about the connection between SJSU apparel and sweatshop labor; how Public Works can provide thousands of jobs for the 83,000 unemployed in Santa Clara County; and how a free-standing statue needs to be built on campus to commemorate how SJSU was the starting point for the internment of Japanese-Americans in Santa Clara County during WWII.  Overnight Stay is optional.  Contact Scott Myers-Lipton no later thanNovember 12 to sign up or call the Caesar Chavez Community Action Center (408-924-4144) for more information.
