John Delevoryas

Piano professor John Delevoryas joined the SJSU faculty in 1955, after receiving degrees from U-Mass Amherst and Juilliard.  Prof. Delevoryas taught advanced piano, music theory, and music literature and appreciation to hundreds of students at SJSU. He performed many solo recitals and ensemble concerts, including as a soloist in the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 with the San Francisco Symphony under the direction of Arthur Fiedler. He conveyed a passion for the classics with his unique style of interpretation. Prof. Delevoryas retired as Professor Emeritus from SJSU in 1990, and passed away in June 2016.
