San Jose State University’s David Mease Named Top Rated Professor

Brigham Young University, Florida State University and University of Wisconsin-Madison lead the Site’s First – Ever University Rankings

RateMyProfessors.com, the largest online destination for professor ratings, released its annual lists ranking the highest rated college professors and universities based on student’s ratings from the site. San Jose State University’s David Mease, a business professor, is ranked “Best University Professor,” followed by Dr. Kimora, a criminal justice professor from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Kateryna Schray an English professors at Marshall University. New this year, the top 25 Universities were chosen not only based on professor ratings, but also campus ratings. Of that list, Brigham Young University boasts the highest rated, followed by Florida State University and University of Wisconsin – Madison.

As tuition costs and economic concerns continue to create hardships for families across the country, for the second year in a row, RateMyProfessors.com ranked the highest rated junior and community college professors and colleges.  The top three community colleges were once again in warm-weather states with California schools taking the top two spots with Fullerton College and Santa Rosa Junior College, ranking first and second respectively, and Valencia Community College in Florida ranking third. The highest rated community college professor this year is Margie Lewkowicz, a mathematics teacher from Georgia Perimeter College in Georgia.

“The annual RateMyProfessors.com lists shine a light on a handful of the amazing educators in colleges and universities around the country who are challenging students to be the very best they can be.” said Carlo DiMarco, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Campus Programs for mtvU. “The ratings often reflect instances where students were inspired and motivated by their professors in a way they never expected.  Those professors need to be recognized.”

For the first time ever, the list includes University rankings, which is based on professor and campus ratings. In previous years, top Universities were based solely on professor ratings. Students determined campus ratings based on reputation, location, career opportunities, school library, campus grounds and common areas, internet speed on campus, campus food, clubs and events, social activities and whether or not the student is happy with their decision to attend the school.

Students posting on RateMyProfessors.com praised this year’s highest ranked University Professor, David Mease of San Jose State University, stating that he is, “…the epitome of what every college professor should be like,” and commenting on his lecture style, students said that “He is so amazingly organized and well prepared” and “He is crystal clear and answers your questions w/ great detail.” A student from the Georgia Perimeter College posted the following about highest-ranked community college professor Margie Lewkowicz’s math class, “She is such a great teacher.
