SAN JOSE, Calif., — San Jose State President Mohammad Qayoumi will deliver the Fall Welcome Address at noon Aug. 22 in Morris Dailey Auditorium. The event is open to the campus community and media. Afterward, a video and transcript will be accessible from the SJSU homepage at www.sjsu.edu.

This will be Dr. Qayoumi’s first major speech as SJSU president. An annual tradition, the gathering marks the beginning of a new academic year. The president will reflect on the successes of the previous year, and frame future challenges and opportunities.

Specifically, President Qayoumi will encourage students, faculty and staff to dream big as they embark on a strategic planning process, which will begin this September with 40 town hall meetings for the campus community.

The process will follow three core themes: integrative learning, community connections, and inclusive excellence. The result will be a strategic planning framework that will guide academic, facilities and fundraising plans.
