The Campus Climate Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the drawing for an Apple iPod as part of the promotion for the Campus Climate survey. The winners are: Coleen Cho (student), Roberto Gonzales (staff), Randy Virden (faculty), and Laurie Morgan (administration). These people were chosen randomly from the 4,292 students, 370 staff members, 300 faculty members, and 87 administrators who participated in the survey.

The Campus Climate Committee, a presidential advisory group composed of faculty, students, administrators, and staff, in partnership with the Office of Institutional Research, conducted survey to assess perceptions of campus climate at SJSU. Campus climate was defined as “the formal environment in which we learn, teach, and work, and live in a postsecondary setting.” In addition to exploring campus constituent’s perceptions of the overall environment at SJSU, the project aimed to examine the extent to which campus constituents valued diversity, and perceived SJSU as safe, welcoming, respectful, and supportive of people of different genders, abilities, races, cultures, and sexual orientations.

The survey was conducted in fall 2010 and results are now being released to the various departments, organizations, and stakeholders through-out the campus. For further information, please contact Wiggsy Sivertsen at wiggsy.sjsu@gmail.com.
