RE: Spring 2015 Enrollment Unit Limit
Dear SJSU Campus Community:
Consistent with our on-going efforts to provide access to courses and support student success at SJSU, we will continue our practice to limit undergraduate student enrollment to 16 units for the Spring 2015 term. The only admissible exceptions appear below.
For Students:
Graduating seniors: Beginning Monday, January 5, 2015, graduating seniors who filed for graduation through the Registrar’s Office on or before Monday, November 3, 2014 will be eligible to register for up to 18 units without a petition. Graduating seniors desiring to take up to 21 units can petition as of Wednesday, January 7, 2015. All requested and enrolled classes must be required for the declared degree or participation in languages, groups, or ensemble-based courses.
Other exceptions: Students may petition for up to 18 units towards degree or participation in languages, groups, or ensemble-based courses starting Wednesday, January 7, 2015. All requested and enrolled classes must be required for the declared degree, or be related to languages, group, or ensemble-based courses such as debate team, theater performances, and other auditioned classes. If granted, approvals are only for the exact number of required additional units to add the requested classes.
The excess units petition form is on the Registrar’s website (www.sjsu.edu/registrar). Petitions submitted after Tuesday, February 3, 2015 (the last day to drop) may not be processed until after Tuesday, February 10, 2015, the last day to add, and therefore might incur late fees.
For Advisors:
All majors (especially departments that typically enroll students in performance, activity, or other special classes after the start of the semester) should advise students appropriately BEFORE the start of Advanced Registration.
Please encourage students to visit their academic advisors or advising/success centers to plan their Spring 2015 schedules now and not wait until Spring 2015 Advance Registration begins. Advance Registration for Spring 2015 begins on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 and ends Monday, January 19, 2015.
Any questions should be directed to Student Academic Success Services at 4-2707. Please note that this policy is subject to change.
Thank you.
