Meet Luis, SJSU faculty member and one of the leaders of Lurie College!

“I lived in six Latin American countries before moving to the US at 16. I may not have a hometown, but I have a good understanding of how varied history, politics, and economics shape cultural practices (and vice versa), including how people are labeled and how those labels affect educational opportunity. I am proud to work with teachers learning how to affirm students’ cultures and help them be agents in their own schooling so that all students, regardless of their labels, can thrive and learn.”
