Reflections on the 3rd Annual Run, Walk, and Roll Spartan 5K.

On Sunday April 29th, 2012, just over one hundred participants, young and old, enjoyed 5 kilometers of San Jose State University’s sunny campus as they ran, walked, and rolled in the 3rd Annual Spartan 5K. The theme of the 3rd Annual Spartan 5K was “Run, Walk, and Roll,” because a portion of the proceeds went towards a local nonprofit organization called the Far West Wheelchair Athletic Association (FWWAA). The FWWAA is nonprofit organization that promotes, develops, and organizes wheelchair sports in California, Nevada, and Arizona. This summer they are creating a summer sports camp for youth that use wheelchairs, where campers can enjoy dozens of wheelchair sports and activities.

The backbone behind the Annual Spartan 5K series is the Spartan Athletic Training Organization. The Spartan Athletic Training Organization plans on keeping this annual event promoting a healthy lifestyle to fundraise money for the Spartan Athletic Training Organization members to attend conferences and professional activities. Each year the Spartan Athletic Training Organization has chosen a nonprofit organization that received a donation from the race.  The Spartan Athletic Training Organization hopes that the Annual Spartan 5K will grow into a large annual campus event involving other campus clubs and departments. The Spartan Athletic Training Organization would like to thank all volunteers and participants for their support and especially thank Don Nguyen DDS for being our top sponsor two years in a row

Join us next year for fitness, health, fun, and social causes!
