Upgrade to Version 10

OU Campus will be upgraded to version 10 during the week of July 7. The most prominent change in the new interface includes a new look & feel without drastically changing your experience creating, editing and publishing content.

Orientation Sessions

We are offering numerous hands-on orientation sessions during the last two weeks of June to:

  • Explain key differences
  • Highlight new features
  • Give you an opportunity to try out the new interface before the upgrade

If you would like to attend one of our orientation sessions, please register as soon as possible. Seating is limited. You can register at OU Campus Training.

Attending an orientation session is optional and there isn’t anything that anyone will need to do on their own as part of the upgrade. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Web Services.

SJSU.EDU Website Update

Note: This article was originally published in a February 2013 newsletter and is being added to this blog for historical purposes.

Web Services would like to thank the campus web content owners for their work in providing a consistent experience for sjsu.edu visitors. We have completed more than 80% of the migration from WebCMS to the OmniUpdate OU Campus content management system. This achievement has been possible with the help of the campus content owners and University Advancement’s Marketing and Communications team. The remaining websites are close to relaunch in OU Campus in the weeks ahead. We expect to be able to retire WebCMS by June.

The OU Campus migration reminds us that a web content owner’s work is never done. New information and changes to existing information, that is of interest to the sjsu.edu community, can be presented on the web quickly by updating existing web pages or introducing new ones. ITS Web Services is committed to providing training and support for these ongoing activities. Visit OU Campus Training to take advantage of our new training sessions:

  • OU Campus 101 – Basic Training
  • OU Campus 201 – Site Navigation and Architecture
  • OU Campus 202 – Special Templates, Reusable Content and Social Media Integration

We are gearing up for making incremental changes to the OU Campus templates in response to your feedback. First on the list is a change to the default font size. We are also working to improve your search experience. Please stay tuned for more information.

New Workshops: Getting Started with WebEx

SJSU WebEx is a cloud-based interactive web conferencing tool that can be used to host online meetings, classes or training sessions with individuals inside and outside of San José State University. WebEx can be accessed from Macs, PCs, smartphones, or tablets.

Join us for an hour-long hands-on introduction where you’ll learn how to be both a presenter and participant in WebEx events. Attendees will leave with the ability to set up their own meetings, office hours, and interactive events using the WebEx interface.

We’ll also see how to collaborate with the whiteboard and annotation functions, chat with other participants, and share presentations, videos, and your desktops within WebEx. This workshop will be facilitated by Christina Mune, eCampus Faculty-in-Residence.

To register, visit the SJSU Events calendar.
